Privacy Policy
1. Who we are
Design a Toy for the World is run by Sharing is Learning Ltd. (“SiL”), Room 4, 30 Edgarley Terrace, London, United Kingdom SW6 6QD. Sharing is Learning Ltd. is the data controller for this website and competition. You can contact us about anything in this policy at Hi@SharingisLearning.com.
2. What we collect
We collect only what is needed to run the competition: the child's first name, date of birth, country and optionally the school they attend, plus the parent or guardian's name, email address, optional phone number and relationship to the child. We also collect the drawing image and the story text you submit, and a record of your entry payment.
3. Why we collect it
We use this information to run the competition: to verify the child's age and eligibility, to process the entry fee, to contact the parent or guardian about the entry and results, to produce prizes for winners, and to publish entries in the gallery where a parent or guardian has given consent.
4. What is never public
The child's surname, exact date of birth, email address, phone number, guardian details, home address and private school information are never published. Published information is limited to the child's first name, age, country and the character's name.
5. Payments
Entry fees are processed by our payment provider, Revolut. We never see or store your card details. We keep only a record that the payment was completed, the amount and the entry it relates to.
6. Marketing
Marketing emails are optional and separate from competition communications. They are never pre-ticked, and you can withdraw your consent at any time by contacting us or using the unsubscribe link in any email.
7. No profiling
We do not create behavioural advertising profiles for children. We do not use children's data for targeted advertising, and we do not sell personal data to anyone.
8. Children's privacy information
This competition is for children, but accounts, entries and payments are always made by a parent or legal guardian. Children do not sign in themselves and cannot submit entries directly. If you believe a child has given us information without parental involvement, contact us and we will delete it promptly.
9. How we keep information safe
Entry data is stored securely and access is limited to the small team running the competition. Judges see entries only through a system that hides the child's surname, date of birth, guardian details, school and payment information.
10. Retention
We keep entry information for up to 24 months after the edition it belongs to has ended, so that we can handle enquiries, prizes and any legal questions. Drawings published in the gallery with parental consent stay published until the consent is withdrawn, at which point we remove them. Unpublished entries and their data are deleted after this period. Payment records are kept as long as required by tax and accounting law.
11. Your rights
Under UK data protection law, you can ask us for a copy of the personal data we hold, ask us to correct or delete it, object to or restrict our use of it, and withdraw consent you have given (for example for publication or marketing). To exercise any of these rights, email Hi@SharingisLearning.com.
12. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will publish the updated version on this page. If a change materially affects how we use information you have already given us, we will notify affected parents and guardians by email.
